Conductive polymers also known as intrinsically conducting polymers (ICPs) are polymers that are organic in nature and have the ability to conduct electricity. Conductive polymers are derived by oxidizing monocyclic precursor polymers. These polymers provide high conductivity but do not show the same mechanical properties. Conductive polymers offer properties such as high electrical conductivity, strength, and durability. Due to these properties, conductive polymers have major applications in electrical applications such as transmission cables, wiring, batteries, capacitors, and others. Conductive polymers being organic materials, the electrical properties can be fine-tuned using different organic synthesis methods.

The market for conductive polymers is driven by the rising demand for lightweight materials from the automotive industry. Increasing application of conductive polymers for being used in wiring and cables for automobiles, thus making the vehicle lighter and oil efficient. Additionally, growing technological advancement, digitalization, and increasing electronic dependence are expected to drive the market for conductive polymers.

The conductive polymers market will be affected due to high prices of raw materials. Conductive polymers are made from materials such as ABS, PPS, which are expensive polymers, which is expected to have adverse impact on the industry. Moreover, governmental regulations over environmental concerns also affect the market growth, thus restraining the market for conductive polymers.
