Hydrofluoric acid, with chemical formula HF is a solution of hydrogen fluoride in water. It is colourless, strong, reactive, acidic and corrosive in nature. It is used as precursor for most of the fluorine containing compounds like anti-depressant fluoxetine. It is also employed in inscription of silicon wafers and glass. Electronic grade hydrofluoric acid is generally employed in semiconductor industry for etching the circuits.

Increasing demand for electronic equipment like smartphones, laptops, TV sets, IoTs- enabled devices, AI-enabled devices, cloud computing systems shall drive the market growth. Additionally, adoption of silicon wafers and ICs in semiconductors, photovoltaic cells, microelectronics and other high-end applications is expected to raise the demand for etching agent like HF.

However, the chemical is acidic and corrosive in nature which can cause severe damage on spilling and splashing. This is expected to hamper the market growth.
