Livestock deworming, also called dehelmintization, drenching or worming, refers to the administration of anthelmintic drugs, to prevent or eliminate the presence of helminths parasites such as tapeworm, roundworm or flukes. The symptoms of worm infestation among livestock animals are lacking vigor, poor appetite, decrease in body weight, diarrhoea with mucus, worms & blood, anemia, and others. The parasites affect the livestock by absorbing the digested nutrients, sucking of blood, destroying tissue, and secretion of toxins. The extent of the parasitic infections is subject to the environment in which the livestock are kept and factors such as poor nutrition, overstocking, keeping of different animal breeds together and lack of cleanliness exacerbate the infection. Livestock dewormers are critical because economic losses through livestock worm infections are significant. Since the economy of many countries is dependent on livestock animals, the key players of animal health continue to launch new and improved products, further augmenting the livestock dewormers industry.  For example, in April 2019, Bimeda announced the launch of Bimectin Plus, an injectable dewormer for cattle.

Global livestock dewormers market growth is being driven by the increasing prevalence of animal diseases, advancements in dewormers, increasing incidences of worm infections, and rise in the demand for meat and animal-based products.  According to a survey conducted by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), analyzing the needs of individuals associated with the U.S. beef industry, parasitic testing was one of the most important incentives for them. These trends combined with some other factors such as concern for animal health and active government support are expected to positively fuel the livestock dewormers market

However, side effects associated with livestock dewormers and the stringent government regulations for the approval process of livestock dewormers are the major factors that can inhibit the growth in the global livestock dewormers market.
