Scintillator is a device that detects radioactive particles and radiation by re-emitting the straight radiation in the way of light photons which are then transformed by image sensors to electrical signals. When stimulated by ionizing radiation a scintillator experiences scintillation, a characteristic of luminescence. Once hit by an approaching projectile, light-emitting materials consume its energy and scintillate, they re-emit the energy absorbed in light form.
