Rotorcraft are used in a variety of ways by the military, and most military helicopters are customised for their specialised mission. Modern attack helicopters are capable of carrying heavy weaponry and are used to offer precise air support for ground troops as well as to destroy enemy armour concentrations. The increased demand for new-generation helicopters has led in update plans for existing helicopter models, which is driving rotorcraft engine demand even higher. One of the important rotorcraft engine industry trends projected to gain pace in the next years is the adoption of 3D printing. The helicopter manufacturing business has evolved as a result of the introduction of 3D printing, with increased production rates and reduced waste output.

The key driver for the market is an increase in demand for helicopters for various military and commercial purposes. In the military, rotorcraft procurement is done on a big scale. Helicopters are also used in a variety of purposes nowadays, including the commercial sector.

Rotarcraft Engine  Market Industry Developments

  • In June 2021, New turboshaft engines will be introduced by Russia to the Asian market. United Engine Enterprise (UEC, a part of Rostec, the Russian state corporation) is extending its turboshaft engine line for helicopters. According to a UEC spokesman, the firm now has two such engines in its portfolio of export-oriented goods, the Klimov VK-2500 and Klimov TV7-117V.

  • In March 2021, Safran Helicopter Engines will be able to explore and then industrialise various techniques of cleaning engine parts throughout the MRO process thanks to the Maclean project, which is funded by the European Commission's Life programme. This programme, which is supported by a 750,000€ grant from the European Union through the LIFE environmental project, aims to have a beneficial impact on the environment by reducing our chemical use.
