The global automotive electric vacuum pump market size will rise at a CAGR of 10.2% and reach USD 2.40 billion by 2026. This is owing to the improved fuel efficiency of vehicles through the adoption of electric vehicles. An automotive electric vacuum pump offers high performance and helps to drain out air from the brake booster tank. This creates a vacuum that can be utilized for brake application. More information on the market is provided by a recently published report by Fortune Business Insights™ titled, “Automotive Electric Vacuum Pump (EVP) Market Size, Share & Industry Analysis, By Electric Vehicle Type (BEV, HEV, PHEV), By Vehicle Type (Passenger Car, LCV, HCV) and Regional Forecasts, 2019-2026.” According to this report, the market value was USD 1.11 billion in 2018 and will exhibit an exponential CAGR of 10.2% in the forecast period of 2019 to 2026.
University of Western Australia Transformed a 12-year Old Hyundai Getz Model into an Electric Vehicle
As a part of the Renewable Energy Vehicle Project (REV), the University of Western Australia converted the 12-year-old 2008 Hyundai Getz model into an electric vehicle in 2020. This conversion was conducted under the supervision of the ex-BMW research professor and REV Director Professor Thomas Braunl. The Old Getz will undergo a complete transformation and will turn into 144 low-voltage architecture and deliver an 80 km driving range with a 13kWh battery pack. He says, “if we plug the new Getz into an AC outlet, it will take an average 6 hours to charge completely and run at a speed of 80 km per hour when charged completely. Since electric cars have a longer life as compared to those running on diesel or petrol. This upgrade is likely to run on the road for ten years.” Such innovations of recycling and reusing are likely to bode well for the market in the long run.

Government-imposed Safety Regulations on Vehicles to Help Market Gain Traction
The increasing popularity of electric vehicles all over the world is expected to aid in the expansion of the market in the forecast period. Besides this, the introduction of materials that increases the wearing rate and extends the overall life of vanes used in electric vehicles by manufacturers will help promote the automotive electric vacuum pump market growth.
Additionally, the benefits of electric pumps such as the reduction in gas pollution, less contamination of the lubricant, and better ring seal are likely to boost the market in the forthcoming years. Increasing regulations imposed on customer’s safety by various governments will also fuel the demand for EVPs in the upcoming years.
On the contrary, the durability problem of pumps may restrict the market from growing. Furthermore, the vacuum pumps produced by OEMs are specially designed for an oil-free air environment, and this may cause hindrance to the market when used in vehicles running on fuel. Nevertheless, electric vacuum pumps support all types of vehicular platforms and enhance smooth operations of the engine. This will help create a lucrative growth opportunity for the market in the long run.
