The automotive engine encapsulation is a method in which the engine of the vehicle is shielded to provide better thermal and acoustic insulation. This shield forms a thermoplastic casing which helps in reducing the engine noise and enhances the thermal efficiency of the vehicle. The engine encapsulation also increases the fuel consumption as well as controls the carbon dioxide emission of the automobile. It retains the temperature of the engine within the compartment of the vehicle and improves the performance and efficiency of the engine by allowing the lubricants and oils to function at their optimum levels. Moreover, the increasing demand for fuel efficient, high performance and silent vehicles is creating high penetration of automotive engine encapsulation in the global market. The automotive manufacturers are also working towards developing advanced technologies in vehicles to fulfil the demands of the customers as well as meet the stringent regulations and standards imposed by the government regarding fuel emission and safety.

Globally, the rising fuel emission is leading to severe environmental problems and global warming crises. The emission control devices and solutions developed by the automotive manufacturers to curb the ever increasing environmental issues is driving the growth of the market. Also, the increasing demand for sound free and fuel efficient vehicles is creating high demand for the automotive engine encapsulation across the globe. On the contrary, the growing inclination of the automotive industry towards producing electric vehicles is one of the major reason that may restrain the growth of the automotive engine encapsulation market. Electric vehicles comprises of lesser engine components and devices as compared to the internal combustion engine thus eliminating the need of engine encapsulation in these vehicles.

Market Segmentation:

Globally, the automotive engine encapsulation market is segmented by product type, by material type, by fuel type, by vehicle type, and by geographic coverage. The product type is further divide into engine mounted and body mounted. The body mounted segment is estimated to expand at a significant pace in the coming years owing to its easy installation, simple structure and its compatibility with most of the automobiles. Body mounted encapsulation system is installed on all sides of the engine unlike the engine mounted encapsulation system. Mid-sized and luxury cars are majorly equipped with body mounted encapsulation system which is expected to boost the market in the forecast period.  The material type is further segmented into carbon fibre, polypropylene, polyurethane, glass wool and polyamide. Carbon fibre is the widely used material among other materials and is expected to hold the largest share in the global automotive engine encapsulation market during the forecast period. Carbon fibre is a high quality material which is light in weight and has high temperature resistance as well as greater durability owing to which it is preferred by most of the manufacturers. Also, it has thermal insulating properties and tremendous sound absorbing capability. Carbon fibre is majorly used in sports and luxury cars. All these features are leading the growth of the automotive engine encapsulation market. The fuel type is bifurcated into gasoline and diesel engine. The gasoline engines hold the maximum share of the global automotive engine encapsulation market owing to high volume of sales and production of gasoline engines across the globe. Diesel engines generate higher polluting particulate such as nitrogen oxides. Therefore, gasoline engine vehicles have dominance in the market and thereby propels the automotive engine encapsulation market. The vehicle type is divided into passenger cars and commercial vehicles. The passenger car segment holds the major share of the global automotive engine encapsulation market. Engine encapsulation systems are majorly equipped in passenger cars. The high volume of sales and production of passenger cars especially in regions such as Asia Pacific and Europe is propelling the growth of the market.
