An EGR cooler is integrated with the internal combustion engine to decrease the temperature of the exhaust gases that are recirculated by the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system. The EGR system is used to reduce the fuel emissions in diesel and petro engines. The gases circulated by the EGR system are very hot, particularly in vehicles having diesel engines. Therefore, to decrease the temperature of the exhaust gases before they re-enter the engines, various automobile engines are equipped with EGR coolers. It also reduces the operating temperature of the engine cylinder and curbs the emission of hazardous gases in the atmosphere. Globally, the rising number of vehicles on road is one of the main reasons for the increase in the adoption of EGR coolers in the automotive industry. Moreover, the stringent norms imposed by the government on the automotive industry to curb the fuel emission is compelling the automotive manufacturers to integrate EGR system in their vehicles which controls the emission of gases and the EGR coolers helps lower the temperature of gases. Furthermore, the increasing volume of sales and production of automobiles is ultimately propelling the growth of the exhaust gas recirculation cooler market.

The rising number of vehicles on road is simultaneously increasing the emission of carbon dioxide in the environment. To curb this fuel emission, the automotive manufacturers are integrating EGR system in vehicles which is leading to the growth of EGR cooler market across the globe. On the contrary, the rapid shift of the automotive industry towards the electrification in vehicles may restrain the growth of the EGR cooler market during the forecast period.

Market Segmentation:

Globally, the automotive EGR cooler market is segmented by cooler type, by fuel type, by vehicle, and by geographic coverage. The cooler type segment is divided into finned EGR coolers and tube EGR coolers. The finned EGR coolers are integrated on the outer part of the EGR system where cool air flows through the fins. Whereas, in the tube EGR cooler, the tubes are used to cool the exhaust gases. The tubes are incorporated on the outer side of the EGR system and the hot gases flow through this tube which cools down the temperature of the gases before they re-enter the engine. The fuel type is further segmented into, gasoline and diesel fuel engines. The vehicles equipped with diesel fuel engines are in greater need of the EGR system as compared to the gasoline fuel engine vehicles. The gasoline fuel is more efficient than diesel as the pressure generated in the engine is much lower than the diesel engine. Diesel engines generate more heat than gasoline engines and thus EGR coolers have become a vital component in the diesel engines to reduce the nitrogen oxide emissions. Owing to the increasing rate NOx emission, high volume of EGR coolers are utilized by the vehicles with diesel fuel engines. The vehicle type is further segmented into passenger cars and commercial vehicles. The passenger car segment holds the largest share of the global automotive EGR cooler market and is expected to uphold its leading position during the forecast period. The rising urbanization, improvement in the standard of living, and the rise in the disposable income of people has propelled the sales and production of passenger cars across the globe.
