Top AI in Mental Health Companies Transforming Digital Therapy and Behavioral Healthcare

July 21, 2026 | Healthcare

The globally soaring awareness of mental well-being, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic, and the advent of AI in the medical sector has unfolded a new era in the field of psychiatric care. Several companies are developing AI-powered solutions and apps that can work in alignment with psychiatrists and psychologists for the better diagnosis and effective treatment of a range of conditions. The debut of AI in mental health has also led numerous research institutes to undertake surveys and studies for assessing the efficacy of the integration of this technology for rendering long-term care. An example of the same is a GBP 5.3 million (~USD 7.09 million) project undertaken by a research team at the Imperial College London. Announced in February 2026 and funded by Wellcome, the project would deploy digital platform Wysa for adapting and scaling an AI-enabled digital mental health program. The program would be rolled out for adolescent girls with anxiety and low mood in rural areas in India.

The launch of such initiatives is likely to bring forth a new dimension in testing and developing solutions to suffice mental health requirements. On this note, a study by Fortune Business Insights has estimated the global market for AI in mental health to touch USD 11.00 billion by 2034 from a valuation of USD 1.93 billion in 2026. The market is set to depict a CAGR of 24.29% over 2026 to 2034.

AI in Mental Well-being: A Brief Overview

The use of AI in mental health is anticipated to help in enhancing the efficiency of workflows and streamlining administrative tasks. While the technology aids in clinical decision-making, several companies are designing and launching their own platforms to enhance mental health care. However, such platforms do not replace psychiatric care and are advised to be used in collaboration with human intervention.

According to data published by the World Health Organization in 2025, the number of individuals living with mental health disorders is over 1 billion. Given the high prevalence rate of conditions such as depression and anxiety, the integration of AI can help bridge the gap in the number of therapy professionals by enhancing workflows.
