  • September, 2019, Hanwha Total Petrochemicals, a joint-venture of Hanwha General Chemicals and Total S.A., started the production of ethylene at South Korea manufacturing facility.  The company started the capacity expansion project in 2017. The current production capacity of ethylene is reported to be 1.4 million tons per year. By the end of 2019, the company is expected to complete is capacity expansion project of polyethylene of capacity 1.1 million ton/year. Also, the company has also invested for expanding polypropylene capacity by 60% and is expected to start the production by 2021.

  • August, 2019, Formosa Plastics, a plastics manufacturer headquartered in Taiwan, has invested USD 332 Mn to expand the production capacity of PVC at its production site in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The project is expected to complete by late 2021 or early 2022. The company’s production capacity will increase by 20% to 136 Kilotons per year.
