Diabetic nephropathy is a disease caused by the impairment of the kidney among the patients suffering from diabetes. This disease is characterized by albuminuria, a reduction in the rate of glomerular filtration, and elevated arterial blood pressure. Additionally, damage to small blood vessels also influences the filtration process of the kidney leading to occurrence of the diabetic nephropathy. Diabetic nephropathy is one of the major causes of end-stage renal disease. Furthermore, diabetic nephropathy disease can be diagnosed by urine tests, blood tests, and diagnostic imaging techniques. The prevalence of diabetic nephropathy is majorly seen in patient’s age ranging between 12 or less than 18 years and prevalence rate ranged from 1.62 to 4.30%.

Key Market Driver -

Rising prevalence of diabetes

Key Market Restraint -

Lack of diabetic management and more time consumption for drug approval process

Increasing prevalence of diabetes, rise in geriatric population, rise in chronic diseases, increase in cardiovascular patients and obesity are some of the major factors driving that are positively influencing the growth of the diabetic nephropathy market during the forecast period. For instance, global prevalence of diabetes is about 5% for the age group of 45-49 years, 15% in 55-59 years, and almost about 20% in age group of 65-69 years. Additionally, in 2017, the global diabetic prevalence rate of 8.8% was observed in the age group of 20-75 years. Moreover, an increase in research and development activities related to drug discovery, technological advancements are fueling the demand for the growth of the diabetic nephropathy market in the near future. For instance, technologically advanced urine tests, blood tests, minimally invasive techniques, and combination therapy.

However, lack of skilled professionals, stringent regulations, the dearth of diabetes management, and more time consumption for the drug approval process are hindering the growth of the diabetic nephropathy market.
